Fab day at York River Art Market, the weather held and we spent a lovely day by the river meeting new people, getting the word out and raising £36.25 for Survive York. We still have some lovely hand made pieces left so do contact us if you’d like to place an order!
CN: Rape and Sexual Violence Charity
Happy and excited to announce that YFC will be raising money for Survive York who provide support for survivors of rape and sexual violence. All of the proceeds from our stall at the art market will be going to this excellent and deserving charity so do come down and see us on Saturday 29/07!
So it’s been a busy month for YFC. We’re now ready to launch our period poverty drive to collect donations of menstrual products for York Food Bank. In the next few weeks we’ll be visiting local shops and businesses to ask for donations and arranging information and collection boxes for work and community spaces. If you’d like a box for collecting products or want to make a donation please Contact Us.
So we’ve kicked off 2017 with a really strong start to building this group. We’ve got lots in the pipeline including our period poverty drive and plans for a fundraising craft stall at York River Art Market on 29/07/2017.
Our next meeting is on 01/06/17 and we’ll be looking to officially launch the period drive soon after that.
We’re also looking for graphic design help to support us in creating a proper logo for the group so please do get in touch if you think you might be able to help or have any ideas for a design!
Anyway, exciting thins are coming so watch this space!
Really productive meeting this month as we started to think about the kinds of actions we want to run. We’re looking at arranging a Feminist Film screening and fundraiser and doing some work to support the local foodbank and homeless charities with provision of menstruation products. If you’d like to get involved Contact Us or visit our Facebook page. Alternatively, watch this space for details as we get them.
We had our first YFC meeting on Thursday 26th January and it was a real success, lots of great ideas about how and what to organise and plans put in place for the next two meetings. Details of the meeting including the minutes can be found on our Facebook Page and upcoming activities are on our Events Page
